Pears
butter

To make the cake batter:

Wash, peel, and grate 2 large pears and set them aside. Cut your butter into small cubes and beat with the paddle attachment in your stand mixer until fluffy. Add the sugar and continue mixing until fully incorporated. Next you’ll  add the eggs and mix. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and spices and whisk together. Add the dry ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, to your stand mixer while mixing. Once combined, add in the grated pears and mix together.

To make the caramelized pear topping:

Cut your peeled pears into thin slices lengthwise. Coat these slices with the spices in a small bowl. Arrange the slices in the bottom of the pan over the sugar. You can place them in a circular pattern or however you’d like!  Next, pour your batter over the pears. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes before inverting onto your cake stand.

Enjoy!
